Is alpha kappa psi only open to business majors?

No, Alpha Kappa Psi is the only co-ed professional fraternity on campus that considers students of all majors offered at LMU. Nearly one third of our current brothers are pursuing non-business related majors. Although founded on the principles of finance and commerce, the fraternity has evolved into one that promotes brotherhood and professional development.

Why should I join Alpha Kappa Psi?

Alpha Kappa Psi will prepare you for success and give you the skills to navigate the dynamic professional world. Our brothers belong to the world's largest professional network including Fortune 500 executives, government leaders, and accomplished entrepreneurs. Beyond the professional skills you will gain, Alpha Kappa Psi provides you with a foundation on campus and friends to call your brothers for life.

How do I become a brother of Alpha Kappa Psi?

Your first opportunity to formally meet the brothers will be during rush week. Information regarding rush week can be found on the "Recruitment" tab above and will be posted on our social media channels as well. We encourage all rushees to attend as many events as possible and interact with the brothers. Rushees who wish to interview for a bid will be allowed to sign-up for one during our last rush event. The brothers will consider your resume, application, rush week interactions, and interview performance to determine whether or not you are granted a bid. A bid is an invitation to join the fraternity on condition that you successfully complete the pledge process. If you choose to accept your bid you enter a multi-week probationary period formally known as pledging where you will work to earn your spot in the brotherhood. All pledges who successfully complete the pledge process are granted lifelong membership as a brother of Alpha Kappa Psi.

When am I eligible to rush?

We recruit new brothers during the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. All students are welcome to attend our rush events and network with the brothers, but LMU policy prohibits freshmen, or students with less than 12 units, from pledging during the fall semester. Freshmen will be eligible to receive bids to pledge beginning in the spring semester. Transfer students are welcome to rush and pledge at any time.

AM I allowed to rush both delta sigma pi and alpha kappa psi?

Yes, Delta Sigma Pi and Alpha Kappa Psi purposely schedule rush events on different days to allow rushees to meet and interview with both fraternities. Both will set you up for success, but the two fraternities have different requirements, traditions, and cultures. We want you to be exposed to both and choose the one that best fits you. If granted a bid to both you must choose one.

Is pledging a significant time commitment?

Yes, pledging will take up a significant amount of your time over the semester and includes mandatory weekly meetings and events. Consider it an additional class in your schedule.

Do you haze?

LMU, Alpha Kappa Psi, and Psi Epsilon chapter do not condone hazing of any kind. All recruitment and pledging activities are designed to build and promote brotherhood, professional development, and integrity. The pledge process will develop you into a leader and brother.
